We ignore the fact that at least one of the amendments to the Constitution has NEVER BEEN RATIFIED by the
required number of states to become law. Yet, we pay the taxes that amendment brought about. How many Supreme Courts decisions
have been made based on THAT amendment, which is not even law. Or do we just allow the amendment to “grow onto the Constitution”
by ignoring its presence? And, still pay the taxes.
We ignore, or maybe just forget, the workings of Nixon, Johnson, Ford, Carter, Clinton, and all the rest.
NONE of these men prevented serious failures of their administrations in one area or another. Even when, and especially when,
the same political party controlled the Legislative and Executive Branches, the achievements were really insignificant compared
to the circumstances surrounding the administrations. Why should we expect any different from our present President and administration?
All of the things being said about the present administration can be applied to former administrations. We
must understand that Bush, and his cohorts, are the ones who instituted the Patriot Act and No Child Left Behind. The Patriot
Act opened the door to invasion of our privacy by government, gun control, and government control of everything, literally.
No Child Left Behind insures that your kid gets a diploma even if s/he can’t count on their fingers. But, they’ll
be able to play sports, and be on medications provided via of the intervention of counselors and doctors, just so “they
won‘t be left behind“. Behind what, behind a time table of “normal” achievement instituted for the
grading of our children as a farmer would grade his livestock. What happens to the farmers’ culls. Don’t doubt
for an instant that even worse is in the plans for our “left behind” children.
And, the present administration has no more right to claim it inherited these problems from the former, any
more than Johnson inherited the Viet Nam War from Nixon. That is a sell out of their own integrity. We, the public, know what
the situation was when Obama assumed office. So what! Change it, and do it right! And, now we see the ineptness of the protégé
of the Baby Boomers.
Our political situation is pretty indicative of our personal situation. After coming thru the Great Depression,
fighting a war to end all wars, the parents of the Boomers kinda sat back on their laurels and let the kids do their thing.
We did just that. Most got a pretty decent education, got to oppose or participate in the Korean and/or Viet Nam wars, got
pretty decent jobs; and we raised a bunch of kids who had no earth-shattering emergencies threatening their existence. Enter
the political opportunists who proceed to do their best to strip us of everything we had learned from those old fogies about
what it meant to be an American. So now, when it appears that everything is falling around our feet, we suddenly find ourselves
blaming the present administration. But, that is just what we, as a society, have learned to do: BLAME SOMEONE ELSE! Our TV
programs, our news editors, our sports commentators, our scientists, our doctors, our lawyers and our government, “Blame
it on ……. So we learned to point fingers, so what?
It is time for us to get off our collective derrieres and proceed to educate ourselves about the world around
us. And, it is not the one coming via the TV screen. That world, even when it’s the so-called experts, is about as real
as the Soap Operas, maybe more like the animated programs!
Our government was founded in a cauldron of political injustices against personal freedom to determine our
own destiny. If you’ve never seen first-hand the effects of tyranny, and lesser oppressions, you have no idea just how
precious the freedom we enjoy right now, really is. It cannot be compared to gold and silver, millions of our worthless dollars,
or the power to take anything you want by deceit or by force.
When you complain about anything, remember it is your personal freedom,
guaranteed by our Constitution, secured by the blood of countless brothers and sisters, and blessed by the ultimate Power
of the Universe, that gives you the opportunity to complain, in the first place. Like Mom always said, “If you don’t
like it, do it yourself!”
Don’t settle for anything less than what you know is best for our children’s children.
